Vintage Design
A very rare and important set of six teakwood dining chairs designed by Børge Mogensen and made by cabinetmaker Ove Lander, Denmark in 1939. Seat upholstered with original patinated Niger leather, fitted with brass nails. This is one of the very first designs of Mogensens and his first contribution to the cabinetmakers guild exhibitions held in Copenhagen. Mogensen was a student of famous architect and professor Kaare Klint who’s “red chair” obviously has been an inspiration for the young Mogensen when designing this chair. Especially the lower part of the construction – seat and legs – bears resemblance to Klints design. The chairs are made from solid Bangkok teakwood of the finest quality and the original goat leather (Niger) has the most amazing deep patina. This set was made on special order for cabinetmaker — and has always been in the possession of the original owners family.
