This Moorcroft teapot is decorated with the Revived Cornflower, or Brown Chrysanthemum design on a mottled green ground. This design was introduced in 1910-12 while William Moorcroft was still at McIntyre’s, and it continued in use after he set up his own pottery in 1913. It is unsigned but carries two backstamps. The first is the standard McIntyre mark, in brown, and the second is a retailers mark for Townsend & Co of Newcastle on Tyne. The body measures 136 mm (5 3/8ths inches) in diameter and stands 160 mm (6 3/8ths inches) to the top of the knop. It has some light crazing and two very, very small chips to the inside of the footrim. It dates from the period 1910-13.
