A lovely handmade low table in turned and laminated American Black Walnut, featuring visible joinery, tapered and rounded turned columnar legs, and a rail and stile panel with sapwood figure and live edge inclusion. This piece was designed and fabricated by Montaperto Studios in Brooklyn, NY—a father and son design team comprised of Angelo and Justinian Montaperto. Inspired by arts and crafts motifs as well as Japanese temple design, this diminutive piece has grand proportions and and a gravitas reminiscent of monumental design.
The wood is hand-finished in a traditional manner, featuring cloth-rubbed linseed oil and buffed wax polish, providing a rich color and low sheen, with a semi-open grain finish. The finish allows for light to penetrate, emphasizing the rich grain on this aged walnut, while also providing robust protection and lovely subtle luster, which reflects some percentage of the ambient light striking the piece.
This table is available for viewing at our Brooklyn studio, and we can facilitate worldwide shipping on the client’s behalf.
