Small BIG IRONY Desk by Maurizio Peregalli for Zeus

This small BIG IRONY desk is made of phosphatized sheet steel. It was first designed in 2006.
BIG IRONY products have intentionally not been painted because their irregular surface gives the material the fascinating appeal of wood, of old products existing since ever and improved with age. This is the characteristic which makes them so special. Using them it is normal that you will get stains; with time, these will form a patina which renders the surface even more beautiful.
When delivered, the BIG IRONY surface has undergone a final treatment with beeswax. Please clean it first with a dry rag in order to remove traces of oxidation and wax. To clean BIG IRONY phosphatized surfaces, use a non-aggressive, soft detergent, as if it would be wood. Twice a year it is suggestedto impregnate the surface with beeswax, removing it after one night as described before. If the client should not appreciate the patina on the phosphatized surface the epoxy painted version is also available with a little price increase. The black copper color finish is the most similar to the ‘original’ phosphatized sheet steel, because it has been manually treated to recreate the irregularity of the BIG IRONY surface. Other alternative colors could also be used such as embossed white, rust or gunmetal (in the zinc-plated version also for outdoor).
