The dish is made of finely hand planished copper and sits on three small bun feet. This hand made piece is very much in the Arts and Crafts style of the late 19th Century with a focus on simple form, having clean lines that celebrate the design and construction of the object.
The piece has the words; Harold Barnes, Thornton Le Dale, Yorkshire all scratch written to the base of the dish. We have not repolished this piece as it has developed a lovely natural patination.
This one-off piece has been beautifully hand made by Harold Barnes who operated out of the Old Forge in Thornton-le-Dale, a picturesque village in the civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, about 3 miles east of Pickering on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.
We date this piece to circa 1950.
