Set of 7 dining chairs designed by Kurt Østervig for Sibast, 1960s Danish design chairs by Kurt Østervig in rosewood with stitched black leather seating and backrest. Kurt Østervig (1912–1986) was a Danish furniture designer. Trained as a shipbuilder in Odense on the Danish island of Funen, Østervig’s attachment to wood rather than steel led to his being employed as a furniture designer in E. Knudsen’s Studio, among the largest of the times. In 1947, Østervig established his own studio, from where he worked with several of Scandinavia’s largest furniture manufacturers The seat part is made of black leather and fabric at the bottom of the seat with a wooden board in between. The fabric of 3 chairs is loose on the side. The backs of the chairs are made of black leather stitched together. The height of a chair is 80.5 cm and 51 cm wide. The depth is 42 cm. The seat height is 47.5 cm. A single chair weighs about 6.5 kilos
