1950’s Original French Tolix Outdoor Dining Table – Four Column Base. Tolix is one of our all time favourite companies. In 1907 Frenchman Xavier Pauchard discovered that he could protect sheet metal from rusting by dipping it in molten zinc (galvanisation) and a few years later he set up his factory producing steel furniture. Tolix was the creator and founder of perhaps the most iconic cafe chair of all time, the Tolix model A, designed in 1934 and sadly now copied worldwide. Tolix used their metalworking skill to also produce exquisitely designed but practical cafe/dining tables to partner their chairs. Reminiscent of the Kub, this is a classic 1950’s design with the two tone red and white colours. The base is the inverted pyramid-shaped pedestal design but with the very fifties column detail. The table is in one piece in exceptional original condition with a knee height clearance of 70cm.
