A very large English firegrate in the Jacobean Baroque style. The protruding cast iron firedogs with horseshoe bases surmounted by gargoyle mask, gadrooned motif and globe finials in the Celtic manner. The beaded fret and heavy top bar flanked by tapering square finials. The burning area with sweeping side returns to decorative cast iron backplate. 19th century. An extremely imposing, grand piece.
