An extremely rare embroidered hanging distinguished by a repeat pattern of roundels containing confronting birds alternated to an endless knot motif, rendered in a manner typical of the British neo-Gothic movement as it appears on the work of artists like such as A.W. Pugin. Filling up the space between the roundels are a mask alternated to a trefoil-like device. The strong Medieval character of the composition illustrates how attentive the artists of the neo-Gothic period were towards reclaiming the ancient patterns of the British Middle Ages.
